Planning a magical day at Disney’s Magic Kingdom? We’ve got you covered with some insider tips to make your visit unforgettable! Not all trips to the Happiest Place on Earth require months of planning. You can put together a fun and memorable day in just a couple weeks! Whether you're a first-timer or a seasoned Disney pro, these tips will help you navigate the park and make the most of your day.
1. Start Your Day Early & Plan Ahead
The magic begins early at the Magic Kingdom! I started planing a few weeks ahead of time, so you don't need years of planing. This blog will talk about maximizing one FULL day at Magic Kingdom. We arrived at the park early and left around 11pm. Arriving at the park before it opens gives you a head start on the day. You'll have shorter wait times and a chance to experience some of the most popular rides before the crowds arrive.
2. Master the Art of the FastPass+
This is definitely the best way we were able to maximize our day at Disney. I highly recommend it, it's worth the extra money. FastPass is your best friend at Disney. It allows you to reserve access to certain attractions, entertainment, and character meet-and-greets in advance, so you can skip the regular lines and save valuable time. Here's how it works:
Book in Advance: You can reserve up to three FastPass+ selections per day in advance (up to 60 days before your visit if you’re staying at a Disney Resort, or 30 days out if you’re not).
Using Your FastPass: When it’s time for your FastPass reservation, simply scan your MagicBand or park ticket at the entrance to the ride or experience. You’ll be let into the special FastPass line, which moves much quicker than the regular line.
After Your Initial FastPasses: Once you've used your three initial FastPasses, you can continue to book one FastPass+ at a time for the remainder of the day using the My Disney Experience app.
3. Get the Most Out of the Disney App
The My Disney Experience app is a must-have tool for your day at the Magic Kingdom. It puts everything you need right at your fingertips. Here’s why you’ll love it:
Real-Time Wait Times: See current wait times for attractions so you can plan your day on the fly.
Mobile Food Ordering: I loved this! You already have to stand in a ton of lines at Disney, and food was a line we did not stand in! Yes, skip the lines at quick-service restaurants by ordering food right from the app. Just place your order, pick up your meal, and enjoy!
Interactive Map: Navigate the park with ease using the interactive map, which shows you the location of attractions, dining, and restrooms.
PhotoPass Access: View and download your photos from character meet-and-greets and rides. This was great! You know all the employees, that have cameras, now all the photos go right to the app! You get family professional photos!
Manage Your FastPass+: Modify or add new FastPass+ reservations throughout the day.
Restroom Access: The app shows you where the closest restroom can be found wherever you are throughout the park!! This came in handy several times!
4. Take Breaks & Stay Hydrated
It’s easy to get caught up in the excitement, but remember to take breaks! The Florida sun can be intense, so find some shade, grab a refreshing drink, and relax for a bit before continuing with your adventure. This is when we like to get a bottle of water and breakout the Plexus Hydrate! Bring an empty water bottle to fill while at the park. It will save you some money when it comes to drinking water! We used collapsible water bottles like these to save space in our backpack. They worked great!
5. Don’t Miss the Parades & Fireworks
Make sure to check the schedule for parades and fireworks – they’re fun to watch! You will most likely run into a parade at least once throughout the day, but if you are really into parades, you can find good viewing spots on the app. The evening fireworks are the perfect way to end your magical day. After the fireworks, there is time for a few more rides if you hurry! The lines are shorter and there is fun to be had! We grabbed an extra ride on the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train this way!
When you leave the park at the end of the day, the ferry boat ride is a nice option to get back to the parking lot!
6. Capture the Memories
Don’t forget to take lots of photos! With so much to see and do, you’ll want to capture every moment. The Disney PhotoPass photographers are stationed throughout the park and are happy to help with family photos. Your photos can be linked to the Disney app for simple viewing and sharing.
Lastly, it wasn't too long ago that my health was so bad that traveling was the last thing on my mind. If you want to learn more about how I completely changed my health, feel free to reach out or take my health assessment below.
